01Scope

Who these terms bind

Company Town is a documentary channel on YouTube, published at @company-town (channel ID UCnVTdIM0LHFoYBddeyrLEYg). No episodes are public yet.

These terms are published by Arcadia Ventures Group LLC and bind two groups of people, and no others:

  • Anyone who visits this website. Reading these pages means accepting the terms set out here.
  • Anyone who operates the internal publishing tool described in section 2. In practice that is one person — the operator of the channel.

The publishing tool is not a public product. It is not distributed, sold, licensed, or made available to anyone outside the channel. It has no public users, no sign-up, no accounts, and no way for a third party to sign in. Nothing on this site is an offer to supply it.

Because the tool is single-operator, the word “user” in these terms means the operator of the channel, and no one else. It is used because the YouTube API Services Developer Policies are written in those words.

02Software

The software these terms govern

Publishing is handled by an internal tool built for this channel and operated by a single person. Through YouTube API Services it:

  • uploads the channel’s own finished episodes to the channel’s own account, together with their titles, descriptions, tags, thumbnails, categories, visibility settings, and the altered-or-synthetic-content disclosure for each episode;
  • reads back the metadata of those same videos, to confirm an upload landed correctly;
  • reads back aggregate analytics for those same videos, as reported by YouTube to the channel owner.

It works only within the channel’s own account, on the channel’s own videos. It does not access, collect, or store any other person’s YouTube data, and it does not touch any channel or video other than its own.

What data the tool holds, how long it is kept, and how to have it deleted are set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

03YouTube

YouTube Terms of Service

The internal publishing tool described above uses YouTube API Services.

By using this API Client, you are agreeing to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, which are available at https://www.youtube.com/t/terms.

That agreement is a condition of use. Anyone operating the tool accepts the YouTube Terms of Service in full, in addition to these terms. Where these terms and the YouTube Terms of Service conflict, the YouTube Terms of Service govern the use of YouTube API Services.

Google’s handling of any information it receives is governed by the Google Privacy Policy — https://policies.google.com/privacy.

The tool is also operated in accordance with the YouTube API Services Developer Policies and the YouTube API Services Terms of Service.

Authorization granted to the tool can be revoked at any time from the Google security settings page at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.

04Use

Acceptable use

This website

This site is a set of static HTML pages describing the channel and its production. It may be read, linked to, quoted with attribution, and cited. It may not be used to:

  • attack, overload, probe, or otherwise interfere with the servers that host it, or attempt to gain access to any part of it that is not published;
  • scrape or republish it wholesale in a way that presents it as someone else’s work;
  • misrepresent an affiliation with, or endorsement by, the channel or its publisher.

There is nothing here to submit — no login, no comment form, no contact form, and no JavaScript — so there is no user-submitted content on this site and no way to provide any.

The publishing tool

The tool may be operated only by the channel owner, only against the channel’s own account, and only for the purpose of publishing and monitoring this channel’s own episodes. It may not be used to access another person’s YouTube data, to circumvent any part of YouTube, to exceed or evade API quota, to build a substitute for the YouTube service, or in any way the YouTube Terms of Service or the YouTube API Services Developer Policies prohibit.

Intellectual property

Episodes

The episodes produced for this channel — their scripts, narration, editing, and the imagery made for them — are the property of Arcadia Ventures Group LLC, except for material owned by others and used under licence, permission, or fair use, which remains the property of its owners. Where a historical scene cannot be filmed, the channel uses AI-generated imagery to depict it; those depictions are reconstructions, not documents, and are not offered as authentic historical records.

Episodes are published on YouTube and are subject to the YouTube Terms of Service. Nothing here grants a licence to redistribute an episode, to re-upload it, or to use it in another work. Requests for permission can be sent to the address in section 10.

The text, layout, and markup of this site are the property of Arcadia Ventures Group LLC. Quoting a passage with attribution and a link is welcome. Copying the site wholesale is not.

The software

The internal publishing tool, its source code, and its configuration are the property of Arcadia Ventures Group LLC. No licence to it is granted by these terms or by this site.

06Warranties

Disclaimer of warranties

This website and its contents are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, or non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Episodes are researched from primary and secondary sources and written in good faith. They are journalism and history, not professional advice of any kind, and no warranty is given that every statement in them is free from error. Corrections are welcome at the address in section 10.

No warranty is given that this site will be available without interruption or error, or that the pages will be free of defects. The internal publishing tool is supplied to no one, and no warranty of any kind is given in respect of it.

Links to YouTube, to Google, and to other sites are provided for reference. No responsibility is taken for the content, availability, or policies of any site that is not this one.

07Liability

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Arcadia Ventures Group LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business, arising out of or in connection with this website, its contents, the channel, or the internal publishing tool, whether in contract, tort, negligence, or any other theory, and whether or not the possibility of such loss was known.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with this website and its contents is limited to US$100.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, in which case the exclusions and limitations above apply only so far as that jurisdiction permits.

08Changes

Changes to these terms

These terms may be revised. If they change, the revised version will be posted at this address and the effective date at the top will be updated. Material changes will be described rather than quietly folded in.

Continuing to use this website, or to operate the publishing tool, after a revised version is posted means accepting it. Anyone who does not accept a revised version should stop using the site and the tool.

These terms do not alter the YouTube Terms of Service, the YouTube API Services Terms of Service, or the YouTube API Services Developer Policies, which Google may change on its own terms.

09Law

Governing law

These terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

The courts of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States have jurisdiction over any such dispute.

Nothing here removes a consumer’s right to bring proceedings, or to rely on protections that cannot be excluded by agreement, in the place where they live.

If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, that provision is severed and the rest remains in force.
